God Told Me To

Anybody seen this movie?
Quote:
The storyline of this movie involves a series of motiveless murders committed by various New York residents: a sniper shoots people from a water tower; a father murders his entire family; and a cop (Andy Kaufman) opens fire during a St. Patrick's Day parade. The only consistent pattern to the crimes involves the perpetrators calm admissions of guilt, explaining, "God told me to." While investigating the murders, catholic police detective Peter Nicholas (Tony Lo Bianco) is increasingly troubled by evidence of a Christ-like figure named Bernard Phillips (Richard Lynch) who appeared to each of the killers and can't seem to shake the feeling that his own fate is somewhat linked to this mysterious being. As he comes closer to the truth, his worst fears are confirmed.
It was written and directed by Larry Cohen (who also wrote Q, The Stuff, the Maniac Cop movies, and Phone Booth), and from the description kinda seems like a 70's horror version of Frailty. Anybody know if it's any good or not?

Sam I have this movie. Someone on this board recommended it to me so I went and bought it. It is not a bad film BUT somewhat slow.. In a way it is something like Frailty but IMO frailty is was better. Its Alive series is still my favorite Cohen films .. I do recommend it though so check it out when you can..

Thanks. Another 70's horror question while I'm here:
the 88 minute version of The Wicker Man...how is it? It's on the Netflix que (which means I'll be copying it), but it's the 88 minute version. Should I just buy the big wooden box version of it with the added 11 minutes, or is the regular version better?

it's free for me. My dad pays for the account, and we get the blank DVD's an all that for free. I'd love to have the big wooden box, but I've got the Scarface and Exorcist collector sets, and I want the 2001 collector set a lot more than the Wicker Man box. I just wouldn't have room for it, right now, and the regular DVD will be coming sometime next week. I'd get both but I hate double dipping

Okay, 88 minute version it is. Thanks

Yeah if it is free I would just go for the 88 version. Nothing wrong with double dipping eighter. But I can see where you are coming from though, doesnt make since to have 2 or 3 copies of one movie. How much is the regular DVD going to be 10-14 bucks..?? I dont have a copy of this movie and I guess I need to get it.

you bought it because Andy Kaufman has a bit part and you're mad cause he was only in it for 2 seconds? Forgive me if I don't care much about your opinion of the movie

LOL The Wicker Man is one of my Mother's favorite movies. I have only seen it once, and I did not like it at the time, but hey, I was like..12. Guess I should check it out again.
