Foreigner!

Yes, I'm hot blooded. Check it and see.

My dad has a friend from Brazil coming to visit him tonight. Me, being the horror whore of the family, made him promise to ask her about the Coffin Joe trilogy when she gets in.

So that got me thinking: do you guys find yourselves asking foreigners about the horror movies that you know come from their native countries? I have a lot of Asian friends here in Seattle, so I get to talk a lot about spooky ghost girls. I also have a few Spanish friends, and find myself asking them about del Toro films. Is this a widespread thing, or am I crazy?

Well I'll be damned! It looks like the original guy is playing Coffin Joe as well.

Heck yeah. I can't wait for it. From the trailer, it seems it's retained the feel of Awakening of the Beast and some of the other color Coffin Joe films, with that Jodorowsky-type dream quality. The gore looks great, too, of course.

I remember in high school we had a German exchange student for a while. She was a really cool girl, and I asked her if she'd ever seen Funny Games. She hadn't, so I screened it for her. She was impressed.

I also have a good friend who is Spanish. Knowing what a horror fanatic I am (and I've introduced her to quite a few horror classics myself), when she came back to the states over the summer to visit, literally the first thing she said to me was, "Have you seen [rec]?!" She got to see it on the big screen. I was jealous.

He's not just PLAYING Coffin Joe, Jose Mojica Marins is the writrer, director and star of all the Coffin Joe films, and many others as well. He's a truly prodigious talent.

I don't really know of any Turkish, Portuguese or Polish films. I ask them about their day to day lives there though. It interests me.

None of my friends like horror movies. :(

Though I think it would be interesting to talk to other people from other countries about their native horror films. I think French horror has really come up in the years.

When I first saw this thread I thought it was gonna be about the band.

I don't know any people from other countries but I live in a small town that consits of mainly hispanics and I dont talk to any of them. And none of my freinds like horror movies either so I'm kinda of a loner in that category.
