Amazing coincidences

For some reason, a story that happened to my mother when I was younger popped into my head this afternoon.

When I was around 10, she was grocery shopping and lost the diamond out of her wedding ring. She was very distraught, and we all knew that it would probably never be seen again. My uncle happened to work at that very grocery store at the time. He helped look for it in the store for a long time to no avail. When he went home that night, he took off his boot and the diamond was stuck in the tread.

Anyone else have personal stories about amazing stuff like this?

ok - this is not nearly as dramatic but. . . when i was in high school i was on the debate team and one summer went to a debate camp at the university of kansas. well, i only had one tie (borrowed from my father) and after a long day of debate rounds i had taken the tie off and hung it over my briefcase only to find that upon returning to my dorm room the tie was gone. . . i was a bit worried that my dad was going to beat my ass but soon forgot about it and later that night ended up wandering the KU campus drinking beer and lo and behold hanging in a tree on the otherside of campus i find my tie. . . the wind must have blown it into this tree. i quickly retrieved my tie and dad was none the wiser!

except now he has read this and you are dead meat.

Once in high school, i had a girlfriend named Julie. I had been thinking baout her for days, i cant remember why but i hadnt been able to cal lher or anything for almost a week. finally, the time came where i was home and pretty sure she was too. i picked up the phone, and dialed her number, and no sooner had the speed dial finished, did i hear "Hello?"

she picked up the phone the split second before it rang and answered it. She was getting ready to call me.

Ive posted this here before I think, but it's a story that I love to tell...so sit back my friends, and hear the story about the day your friendly neighbourhood Vampenguin was mere minutes away from losing his life.

This happened two, maybe three summers ago.

First off, I should explain how my driveway is set up. It's on the side of our house, ad right at the end are stairs to go up to the deck. Our neighbour's driveway is directly across from ours.

Anyway, I had a few of my friends over and we were bored to tears. I suggested we watch a movie, but as I didnt have anything they were interested in (this was before I was really into collecting), we decided to go to Blockbuster. Takes about 5 minutes to walk there.

When we get there, we argue about what movie to get for at least 20 minutes, maybe more. Eventually, I get kinda fed up, and suggest that I close my eyes, grab something random off a shelf, and be done with it. They agreed, and I wound up with "Malibu's Most Wanted".

So, 5 minutes or so later, we're back to my house. Walk up the stairs to the porch, go in through the back door, walk around to the living room (which has a big window facing the driveway). Just as we walk into the room, we hear a deafening crash. Not exaggerating at all, Ive never heared anything louder in my life.

I turn and look out the window...the gas pedal on my neighbour's car got stuck, so when he went to pull out of his driveway...he slammed dead-on into the deck...totally destroying the stairs, marking up his car pretty damn good. Had we stayed and argued at Blockbuster for another minute, we would have been standing right on the stairs when the car hit.

there was a thing on msn.com about research into 'telephone esp' - apparently this happens fairly often (sorry i don't have the link)
