Nailbiter 2012
A mother and her three daughters head out on the road to meet their father/husband coming back from serving in an unspecified military capacity. On the way there's a tornado warning, and of course they encounter a tornado. The mother quickly drives off the road and they find shelter in a storm cellar. But they can't get out. Something or someone is keeping them locked in the cellar.
I liked that its just the girls without the father. Not that having a father is bad, just nice to see something we usually do not see in a horror film. The acting is decent. The gore is tame and what/who is keeping them locked in the cellar we only see short glimpses of. The film reveals too much half way through. This ruins the tension a bit, but not entirely. The ending very obviously is meant to lead to a sequel. Haven't checked if there is one yet. Watching it I felt like it was directed at a teenage crowd, not quite sure why. There are also some parts that are very sad and can be hard to see.
Disappointingly the kill scenes are off screen. Not sure due to budget or to keep the film R and not PG-13.
Its worth a watch.
5/10
