The world used to be covered in glaciers too. Erosion and changing climate is a part of nature. Sure, maybe our pollution/ global warming isn't helping any, but I doubt it's making much effect in the grand scheme of things.
And just so we're all on the same page here, just because an area is desert doesn't mean it's completely uninhabitable! Las Vegas is in the middle of the desert and look at the economy of that city!
