One of my favorite scary movies is Salems Lot and it does contain one cheap ass jump scare and another one less cheap. But thas alright as the rest of the movie consists of slow creepy terror and genuinely scary scenes.

The Blood test scene in The Thing is a classic jump scare... Always gets me.
