The Village
7/10
Fully engrossing film-scape and story. I think my enjoyment was helped by actually reading some descriptions before I saw it (which I usually avoid like the plague). I knew it wasn't going to be a scary gruesome film. It's a modern fairy tale grounded in reality.
The 'pilgrims progress' type of dialogue, and no contractions allowed, felt a bit literary, but the actors were so good, they pulled it off, and it lent to the feel of the purity the village was able to achieve.
The best lines from the film were,
Quote:
Mrs. Clack: How could you have sent her. She is blind.
Edward Walker: She is more capable than most in this village. And she is led by love. The world moves for love. It kneels before it in awe.

If you love your family, especially if you have children, I think it's easy to appreciate the film's overall heart and message. It's a simple story. The cinematography, directing, sound and score are very smooth and engrossing.
