This amazing horror-fantasy offering from Russia is not for the visually sensitive, as its director has one foot in the S. Raimi style and another in that of P. Jackson. I was unfamiliar with the folklore that inspired this spectacle, but suffice to say, my new acquaintance with it lends little thematic value to what I witnessed. There is plenty of obvious (and superfluous) symbolism of religion and classism. Check this out (ignore the user-added music):
