Yes, tricky question. How would we know if we came across a ghost dog?
If we heard ghostly barking, or licks on our face? Can't say I've ever heard of a ghost dog or cat. You'd think we'd heard of it if there was.
I've never come across a ghost (spirit of known dead person), but I think I have spirit beings, none of which matched up well to an animal.
