Hi Sam. A really great read involving portals, demons, witches and the like, is "PREY by Graham Masterson. The story takes place on the Isle of White, UK, and a house called "Forty Foot House". It is an extremely strange and creepily weird place where all is not as it seems, involving time travel to distant past and distant future and everywhere in between. The only thing I'll say about it is, that the secret is in the way the roof is constructed. I guarantee you'll enjoy it.
