Totally agree. I also think that it had a lot more going on than an average torture flick - I think that Lola's insanity definitely mirrors the teenage female compulsion toward beauty, popularity, and finding that "prince."
I was really reticent going into it just because I know where my comfort level lies when watching exploitative horror, so I was really surprised at how much I genuinely liked it (versus, say a
Mum & Dad where I can say, "Sure, it's a very well-made film, but I can't say I
liked it because it was past my comfort zone.")
