Critics are critics because they can't be anything else...and if you enjoy something that is what makes it "good".
You're in for a life of disappointments I fear...
The more expectations you have, the more disappointments you'll receive.
If you expect your favorite sports person or team to win every game you're going to be disappointed.
If you walk into every movie expecting it to be, as you say "a quality film", you're going to be disappointed more times than not.
If you had a wife who everyday had dinner ready for you when you got home, and then one day she didn't, you'd more than likely go "wtf, where's my dinner?" You might not say it, but you'd think it. How would you like those expectations put on you? Would you rather have her make the dinner because she wants to do it, or because you expect her too?
I don't put expectations on anything or anyone, I'd rather have them be what they are.
You look at "It's Alive" and see a 3 year old scribblings...I look at "It's Alive" and see a Picasso. It doesn't have to be a landscape painting or a portrait of to be good and shouldn't be judged as such. It should be judge on what it is, what it represents, how it made you feel and nobody else.
