It feels like the town in Resident Evil 4. So do the inhabitants. Maybe Capcom was inspired by this movie. The town is the perfect setting for a horror movie. But then they introduce the main character. A guy who either can't act or was told to be annoying, bumbling, silly, etc. The female lead is beautiful and I wish she was in the movie a lot more. The story is pretty good but for the most part ruined by the main character and the silly humor that enters the story because of him.
I've never read a Lovecraft story. But I will one of these days. I've been curious about his stories since finding out that Ninja Gaiden on NES was influenced by the Cthulhu.
