The best remakes are the ones of films that didn't already enjoy significant success, or change the platform (i.e. Animation to live action or straight film to musical). When all the remake or *shudder* reimagining does is try to take a
successful, critically well received film and "bring it to a new audience" (aka make a quick buck), the idea should be canned as early as possible.
