Ah....i see. First off, lemmee see if I can make some sort of coherence out of all these posts.
First and foremost, this is the film you are looking for:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0096426/
It is an awesome movie and stars Zach Galligan, of
Gremlins fame. I don't remember references from it's alive, LSOH, or Evil Dead 2 but it has been quite a while since I have seen it in its entirety, although I did watch bits and pieces of it on Fearnet not all that long ago and don't remember seeing any of those. Mummies, dracula, werewolves yes. Integral to the plot, actually.
Now, I think where the confusion is coming in is the "remake" which is actually, I am assuming, THIS film:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0397065/

Which is NOT a remake of Waxwork but, rather, a remake of a 1953 film of the same name.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0045888/

In these films a guy who owns a wax house turns the victims in to wax statues by....well....pouring wax in and on them. Kinda like taxidermy, I guess. I have never seen either film, because one is 57 years old, and one stars Paris Hilton, but I am 99% sure none of the wax scenes actually come to life in them.
Waxwork, the film you seem to be looking for, is a very fun film, if you don't mind it being dated.
