Albert Finney saves this movie...actually, to be honest, his spellbinding performance is the only thing that saves this from being a complete waste of time.
The script is barely coherent and has no semblance of suspense or tension and the supporting cast is equally dull, with the possible exception of Mona Washbourne. Finney's portrayal of the charismatic psychopath is technically a bit over-the-top, but in such drab surroundings he grabs your attention immediately and I was very impressed.
Anyone seen the original, with Robert Montgomery? This seemed o have some potential, I'd kind of like to check that version out if it's worthwhile...
