if it was mine - and only 8 years old ... i'd be taking it out in pieces.
i've been lucky with TVS.
the 1st one i bought (a component style panasonic) finally gave up after almost 25 years. actually it still works - but the colours were flaring up occasionally.
the 32" sony trin. in the basement is about 12 years old - going strong.
