Friday night I was able to catch a production of Evil Dead: The Musical.

And, wow. What a blast. They pretty much meld the two plots from Evil Dead and Evil Dead II together, throw in a bunch of references from Army of Darkness, and occasionally change some aspects outright to make them funnier. However the latter fails several times, I must admit, i.e. they turn the character of Shelly into a "dumb blonde" and one long sex joke.
Don't worry, though, it's certainly saturated with hilarious "inside jokes".

At any rate, we sat in the first row, which was part of the "Splatter Zone". Throughout the performance (but especially in the second half) we were covered in blood.

Certainly the most entertaining performance I've witnessed in a long, long time. If you love the trilogy, then this is mandatory (if it happens to come to your area).

Oh Dear God, I would LOOOOVE to see that!...The kids would, too!

Raimi has given the okay for a 3D theatrical movie based on Evil Dead: The Musical, to be co-directed by the musical’s original director, Christopher Bond, and choreographer, Hinton Battle. Bond would like to begin filming next spring with members of the original cast, though the filmmakers will need to address “serious rights issues.”
