I wonder if it was Kaidan that your son got bored with - I've tried to watch it myself, but couldn't get into it, though I've heard that in some circles it's considered a "classic." I see that you're still looking for that one, though...
Onibaba is also another "classic," though I haven't seen it myself.
Not your typical Asian ghost movie, but The Red Shoes definitely packs some punch. Not perfect, but has some great, creepy moments.

The movie that started with a 'K' had some teenaged girls in it...They were using a sort of ouija board that they had set up on the floor...The sliding glass door opened, and we waited for something to happen...There was nothing...Basicly they were talking about how the older girl liked to have sex, even with married men, and that people shouldn't hold it against her...There was also something about a radio show that she was talking about it on...Honestly, there wasn't much else...The front of the DVD had the round board that they used at the top and one or two girls below it...It was a longer word than Kaidan and for some reason I get it confused with The Wishing Stairs, it may have had a similar DVD cover or something.
I'll be checking out Onibaba and The Red Shoes...THANKS :)
