obama may be able to re-establish a constructive conversation between the US, Iran, Palestine and Israel (and others). and here it is worth recalling that Clinton was working desperately to work with the Israelis and Palestinians to get some path to peace but then when GWB came into office he basically ignored the problem until after 9/11 when it all just got more violent and dangerous.

Well said, monkey, and agreed completely.
The US is targeted by Islamic extremists mostly because these people believe that eradicating the US will mean the end of globalization and American dominance in the world. Not everyone is happy to see our "culture" exported into their countries and enforced. And by "culture", I don't mean democracy, but our very way of life. Anyway, just my thoughts, and now I too will go on to not caring what goes on around here. :p
