The first monster who made any sort of impression on me was King Kong ('76 version) on the big screen. I was a curious 4 year old, and highly impressionable...I gawked at Kong and marvelled at his enormous size.
A few years later, I caught Godzilla on TV. And that made me marvel more.
Since then, my childhood went through a rich experience of movie monsters - most notably Ray Harryhausen creations. I caught ahold of plenty of comic books about Cthulhu too, and non-fiction books which described Bigfoot, sea monsters like giant squids, mammoth whales, the Abominable Snowman etc. Initiation into the classic horror movie monsters came much later, and that started with Chris Lee's version of Frankenstein.
Among my favs would be - Alien, Predator, Godzilla, King Kong, Johnny Sokko and his Flying Robot (a TV series from the late 60s-early 70s which had plenty of re-runs), Ultraman, Fraggle Rock thingys, Cthulhu, the Rhedosaurus from Beast from 20,000 Fathoms, the monsters in Godzilla movies, the Cloverfield monster, Graboids, and to top them all - plenty of Harryhausen creations - Kraken, Medusa, Kali, Talos, Hydra, Cyclops, Gwangi, etc. And of course the dinos from Jurassic Park.
