But, seriously, without counting calories, you can still approximate an 1,800 calorie diet, which has very little weight gain risk and you'll get plenty to eat. Since it doesn't sound like you're especially into candy or fried foods it will give you the energy you need to perform.

If you ingest only 1800 calories in a day and do anything but lose weight, you are either 4 years old, or you have one of the slowest metabolisms on earth aside from a sloth.
My wife has been eating around 1800 calories, and 30 grams of fat or less since February and has lost almost 60 lbs. (she exercised a lot too, mostly walking)
