I'm currently obsessed with this show. Not because it's good per se, but because it's nice to see a horror-centered show coming back into the mainstream. Sure, it's not Tales from the Crypt or Masters of Horror, but at least it's there.
Though, honestly, of the ones that I've seen so far, here is my feedback:
1. The Sacrifice - BRILLIANT way to open the show. Definitely flawed, but creepy, decent story, and a guest appearance from Rachel Miner who's been around the horror track. It was a good short watch for a Thursday night.
2. Spooked - Had some eerie elements. Felt like an X-Files episode in its latter years where they lacked good writers. I'm not much into ghost stories, so I found most of it cheesy and the "twist" was predictable. I thought that it was weak, but remembered the Pilot episode and kept faith.
3. Family Man - Ugh. Felt like a BAD Twilight Zone episode. Implausible and LAME story with a predictable twist. Bad acting throughout and I was bored. BORED.
4. In Sickness and in Health - This one would have benefited from the full hour and slightly heavier budget of Masters of Horror. I felt like I was watching something from Trilogy of Terror. I thought that the story was good and there were some fabulous eccentric characters, but the end and twist came far too abruptly. I was confused because it was fairly well-directed and it honestly should have been better.
Those are the 4 that I've watched so far. And so far, overall I am underwhelmed. But, like I've said, I find it more important that a show of this variety exists at all because I hope that it both opens the door for amateur horror filmmakers and for the horror genre itself to be adapted to popular media.
