Of course all you REALLY need to record your albums onto your computer, if you already have a turntable, is a patch chord you can get at Radio Shack to run from the line out on your turntable into the line in on your soundcard. Any wav editor will do the recording & editing. This is what I did for years until the needle finally wore out on my turntable and it started to develop some timing issues. Rather than get it fixed I bought a usb turntable. This is the model I opted for a few months ago:
I love this Crosley turntable for its "old-school" styling- it looks and feels just like a record player from the 50s. Unlike most USB turntables it also plays 78s, a feature that's indispensible for me since I actually own 78 rpm vinyl.
