If you lived closer to Boston, I'd definitely take you up on that offer.

I work for a software company in Cambridge, CIDC, that engineers and maintains the software for Everest Poker and Everest Casino. I work specifically with the poker product. We're the sixth highest ranked poker site in the industry.

If you're a poker player, you should check it out:

www.everestpoker.com

If you're in the US, we only allow Free Play for US players (to avoid legislative backlash), so the Free Chip site is:

www.everestpoker.net

So, essentially, I get to develop and design enhancements for this product. And when it comes down to it, my job entails playing poker. For example, in November we introduced the game Omaha to the software, so I got to take a business trip to Montreal to train our Customer Service team on the game Omaha, i.e. I spent 3 days straight just playing poker. :D

My new title: Product Manager.

My previous job at the company focused a lot on being the liaison between the Product Group and the Customer Service team, dealing with a lot of customer service escalations as well as providing internal support for our Marketing Department - BORING.

NOW I get to focus solely on the product, which entails doing market research ("market research" being playing poker on competitive sites) and developing enhancements for the product. It's really interesting, challenging, and a lot of fun. I also love the people that I work with. AND (to be completely dorky, but, hey, you asked) I honestly enjoy writing Function Requirement Documents that outline the step-by-step detail of the specific product enhancement that I'm working on (for example, my most recent project will enable a player to challenge another player of their choice to a tournament; it's a 20+ page document that's now ready for technical review and it's really rewarding to work with the developers to get it going). A lot of people think that writing FRD's are boring and unnecessarily tedious, but I enjoy it.
