I can't even imagine watching it twice, because after the shock and awe is gone there really doesn't seem to be much else there.

i didnt find it any more gimmicky than any other horror film ...
i thought it had a story to tell - and it told it. i enjoyed the performances, i enjoyed the progression of events ... and i'll probably see the film several times more.
as i mentioned - something is definately lost once you take the film out of the theatre - it's a giant monster film that works best with a giant screen to maintain the aspect ratio between the small you and the humoungous 'it'
but seeing it a second time just reinforced to me how incredibly well made it was.
i actoually found it less gimmicky than any other horror film i've seen in ages - and by that i mean dispite the fantasy premise it took the approach of what would happen if this was possible - and i believe the events and the actions of the characters were extremely natural and believable.
