yes- my understanding at the time was that i'd spend time helping orient new employees, help with friction in the workplace, advise people about promotion processes, and maybe do a little to help sort out the paperwork for health benefits, etc.

my reality was i spent 90% of my time doing paperwork for benefits claims, workers compensation, etc. and relatively little actually dealing with people (in fairness there were other people in the office who did work with new employees - but i got the stink end of the stick)
