The house is inhabited on the top floor by a blind priest ( Carradine) who spends all of his time sitting at an open window.
Having starnge physical problems and nasty flashbacks of her earlier suicide attempt, she complains to the real estate agent about the noisy neighbors only to find out that there are none. All of the supposed neighbors were dead criminals. She realizes that she is living in the gateway to hell and ultimately she has been put in the house for a reason. She is now the new Sentinel.
The film originally caused controversy when it was revealed that the director ( Michael Winner) used actual disfigured people to represent demons in the climax.
I personally found this film to be very good and very scary at times. It was an eerie film all the way through. I liked it. I would recommend it for viewing. It is available on DVD.
My recommendations for viewing are:
The Gathering (2001) (horror)
Salem's Lot (1979- TV Movie) (horror/vampires)
Kingdom Of The Spiders (1977) (horror/scifi)
I recommended only films that are readily available on DVD.
The Countess;)

This may be a slower moving thread, but that's how it has to be. I might think of alterations to it.
2nd edit: sorry for being in a pissy mood, marya... Good review, but the whole point is for people to watch movies they haven't seen.
