I am Legend.
I ve stopped having expectations for any movie, so I went to watch this with an open mind, which helps me enjoy a movie without getting too technically involved in it.
First off, Will Smith. The guy tries his hardest to be The Lone Ranger of the post-Apocalyptic world, yet falls several metres short of Vincent Price in an all-too similar role about 40 years back.
The premise is great, and the narration and direction are really tight. The setting of crowded New York gone totally people-less, and Will Smith's desolate wandering was the highlight.
What the movie lacked, was substance. It all seemed bleak in the end, especially after the infected started pouring onto the screen. Somehow unintelligent nocturnal creatures (grossly reminding of 28 Days characters) didnt fit the entirety. The climax seemed hasty too, but it was a decent ending.
What could have been a real amazing movie experience, turned out to be only a decent watch.
Rating - ***
