Reincarnation
From the director of Ju-On,
Reincarnation was one of the films of After Dark's 8 Films to Die For 2006. At first it was slow-moving (though I find that this is a problem that I have with many Asian horror films), but as soon as the action picks up, the payoff is definitely worth the wait.
Taking place mostly in a hotel that was the scene of a previous spree of brutal murders, this film definitely has the feeling of The Shining at times. The "ghosts" are definitely in your face, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The suspense is fantastic, and there's a twist that I actually didn't anticipate. The end is macabre, creepy, and fantastic.
I give it 4 stars out of 5. A -
