No need to apologize, I dont have ginger hair, but then again I'm not Scottish.
She (Gillian Anderson) was born in Chicago - but lived for 9 years in London. I once heard her in a chat show and she's got an Anglo-American Accent, apart from that *- she's gorgeous.
*Not that her accent isn't nice or anything :o
