The Edgar Allan Poe Collection
It's an uneven DVD of short films adapted from Poe's works.
Annabel Lee by George Higham is a stop motion puppetry freak-out. Beautifully wrought and loaded with symbology, it is the best of the bunch. The narration leaves a little to be desired.
8/10
The Raven by Peter Bradley is really cool looking and gives a very literal translation of the classic poem. The film is live action with eponymous bird rendered as a cardboard puppet. The acting is over the top, but I dig it.
7.5/10
The Tell Tale Heart by Alfonso Suarez feature the talents of Paul Naschy. Sadly this "interpretation" lacks the terror and narrative punch which the short story holds.
5/10
