Phenomenal Remake; Great Review
1. The review is head-on accurate. This remake is everything you would expect from a Rob Zombie film: gritty, dirty, raw and loaded with Zombie's own unique take on horror film. It was exactly what I expected and then a little more. If you don't like House of 1000 Corpses or Devil's Rejects, you will likely not care for Halloween. If, like me, you found Devil's Rejects to be an improvement over House of 1000 Corpses, you will likely (but not definitely) find this an improvement over the both of Zombie's previous films.
2. The original film had BOC's "Don't Fear the Reaper" so it was a nice touch to include. Either the original review has been cleaned up, or she got it right--her review says BOC, not "BTO." Even if she had made a mistake, can you say "anal retentive" boys and girls?
3. The true test of whether you have any balls is whether you give a crap about someone's opinion of you based on the films you like or don't like. I'm sure among my friends, some will love this film, others will be indifferent or mixed, and others not care for it. They're my friends because we all can disagree without trying to dictate each other's opinions.
4. The original film WAS a masterpiece, but watching it now the movie is dated and stale. I happen to be an older horror fan who enjoys remakes. Having to listen to the forced dialogue and the repeated "totally" from the twenty-ish year-old teenager wears on the nerves after a few repetitions. The movie is far better in my imagination than on my television. Again, I guess it is individual taste, but I'll take Zombie's Halloween and the remake of Dawn of the Dead over the originals any day. Not everyone is going to agree, but you don't have to make childish stabs at the reviewer to make your point.
