wait. I think maybe someone is talking about the short film written by Salvador Dali called "L'Age D'Or" and was released in 1930. It features many surrealist images (naturally) including a scene where a human eyeball (still in the living person's head) is sliced lengthwise. The scene, and the movie itself, was so reactionary that it caused a riot in the streets of Paris when it was released. And to me, it's still one of the hardest things to watch on film.
