The Condemned actually reminds me more of Series 7: The Contenders (

Series 7 (which is an awesome movie by the way) has people who get randomly picked and have to kill each other off untill there is only one left on a reality tv show. The leading "contender" is even a pregnant lady. It's great. It came out around the same time as Battle Royale, though I think they were more ripping off of Survivor, which was popular then.
