I've heard nothing but terrible things about this. Ultimately, I only watched it because I like Kristen Bell (Being a VMars fan) - but I was pleasantly surprised. Very plesantly surprised. It's not at all terrible, though it isn't exactly good. First off, it's visually stunning. CGI is well rendered, cinematography is good, and the digital color overlays create a certain atmosphere. I swear I haven't seen a movie so limited to certain colours (blues, reds) since the black and white ages. Second, there are some genuinely eerie moments. Tense. If you like movies that make your hair raise, and are heavy on the computer graphics... you might like this. I have seen the original, but fell asleep halfway through. Of what I saw, this doesn't even compare. However, when placed aside the other PG13 horrors out like The Messengers... it's the better option.
And that hand-grab scene? Breathtaking.
