While the book is a shokingly violent (yet still wildly and distubingly funny) exploration of homocidal mania, the movie is more of a satirical evisceration of the concept of masculinity - and as this it succeed wonderfully.
The film is never quite as rich or well developed as the book (what movie ever is?) But I really love how brutally satirical it is.
