Jurassic 5 - Feedback.
I've heard some of their older stuff, and always thought that maybe they were a bit of an inspiration to newer acts like B.E.P, never listened to a whole album.
So, DL'd this one...it's pretty good stuff.
They're pretty oldskool, and their experience in the industry shows. It's a funky, laid-back FUN hiphop/rap album from a group that doesn't need to fall back on the lyrical styles and content of whatever flavour is in right now. They do their own thing, they have a great sound, none of their stuff is offensive or violent (the n-bomb gets thrown around a few times, but not in a "fuck you" kinda way)...they even make a point in one of their tracks that THAT kind've shit is largely a poor reflection of the whole rap.hiphop game, Which only puts a bad light on the whole style by endorsing ignorant views..."where we at" I think the track's called.
Anyways, a good solid listen - Great party music, for sure.
It's pretty "back in the day"... in that they got stories to tell and messages to get around, and it's real refreshing that these guys aren't yet another rap/hiphop group that does nothing but front. They throw around reflective lyrics and themes, and a lot of thought and effort has been put into this, for sure. Oldskool kept fresh.
If you can just enjoy good flows and beats, you WILL like this album.
