The whole "where was I" thing?
When the planes hit, it was sometime around 2am (our time).
I was asleep, and my girl woke me up to show me what was going on...I was drowsy as all hell, and didn't comprehend it, I actually asked her what movie it was.
The next morning when I woke up, I heard the full extent of what had happened, and saw the footage at length.
At the time, I had a market research job, work was called off that day.

My thoughts?
Terrorism has never really "worked" in large...no effective goal is ever really acheived. Destroy your enemies? Sure, but it doesn't really make a point other than the terrorists are dogmatic bastards that can't stand another point of view in the world aside from their own. I mean really, what does it "do"?
I wonder if the people behind the attacks (while clearly they don't respect the life of OTHERS, and are willing to "sacrifice" themselves to follow through on that), those dead, and those alive could see how much damage this has done to their innocent countrymen and surrounding areas, would there be regret?...surely some of the living must've though how stupid this is, and wished this ball never really got rolling.
Yeah, REAL effective. Your own people, your own family die, you kill others, your country is invaded, and a minority ends up making the majority look like shit to everyone else. Great job. They're REALLY selling their religion huh?
I cannot persecute a man for his religious beliefs, but the "extremists" are simply not acting accordingly to ANY religion...I don't believe any religious texts out there say "kill all those with beliefs of their own"...therefore I think it's important to try and not throw a blanket perception over all muslim people, because when you think about it, that's how these extremists are clearly viewing us...
Religion has caused a lot of bullshit in the past, not just theirs either, christianity has hardly had a clean run either. I know that this is about more than religion, but when a group is using it as a supposed backing for its cause, it's hard to not bring it up - it's unfortunate that time and again, "faith" and religion is used as an excuse to justify violence towards others.
To me, terrorism is just foolish. Sure, maybe I don't understand their perspective, and I never will...but really, what good has it done them? Nothing. Nothing has changed but the bodycount, and kids on both sides growing up in a world their parents have fucked up.
Ridiculous.

Anyways, sorry for your countries loss doesn't really cover it, so I'll just leave it there.
