You think you'd have time to go shopping while a zombie uprising is going on? If you really wanna be prepared, you'd better get all of that stuff ahead of time because I can guarantee you that the second it happened hardware & gun stores would be the first places looted. If you plan on making a few phone calls and then driving a half hour to the store, you'd get there to find it empty. (Or at least looted out of everything you just named.)

First thing I'd do... (And I'm well prepared because I own The Zombie Survivial Guide.) is plug all the drains in the house and start running water in every sink, tub, shower, jug, etc... Because once that water goes down, it won't be coming back up. Second thing I'd do would be fortify the windows & doors to the exterior of the home. And thirdly, I'd devstroy my staircase and start using a ladder immediately because if and when the zombies came through my front door (or windows) I want to have at least one more line of defense. So I'd trash the staircase ahead of time, then when they come through, I'd pull the ladder upstairs with me, the wife & the dog and then it's time to start shooting from above.

Eventually, I'd run out of ammo and they'd be able to climb up the pile of dead zombies and get to us OR we'd kill them all OR the military would get them.

In any event my order of operations would definately go water, doors & windows, staircase.
