Man Killed In Fight Over Beer

Florida - A 50-year-old Central Florida man was charged with fatally stabbing a man during a fight over beer, according to police.

Investigators said John Francis Ferrari, 50, stabbed a homeless man several times during the brawl.

The fight happened in a makeshift homeless camp in a wooded area along the 200 block of South Courtenay Parkway.

"There were several cans of beer there," said Agent Alex Herrera of the Brevard County Sheriff's Office.

The victim, believed to be in his middle-to-late 30s, was stabbed at least three times in the chest and once in the leg, officials said.

He was then airlifted to Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne where he remained in critical condition until late Sunday when he passed away.

Ferrari, also described by investigators as homeless, was arrested initially on aggravated battery charges.

The victim's name was being withheld pending notification of his next of kin.
