I haven't seen it, I don't know if I like it or not. It's just that everything I've seen or read about it just seems so...underwhelming. Like, "Yeah, I didn't think ROTK was the best movie this year, but it had the giant-ass epic thing going" or "No, I thought Aviator should've won, but Million Dollar Baby was good, had Eastwood and Freeman, Swank wasn't bad, et cetera" But...Brokeback Mountain...I haven't seen it, but something like Munich seems like it'd be right up their alley. I'm not even saying pick the BEST movie, cause no way they'd even nominate Sin City. Crash or GN&GL, maybe, but all the buzz is saying...Brokeback Mountain. Nothing against the movie, I like Jake Gyllenhaal, but...that's it? Seems like we're getting another English Patient year...

the academy has always been concerned with "high art".they're elitists(and full of shit) and in their minds this film deserves awards simply because someone undertook the subject matter.

i doubt very seriously that this film will ever be seen by john q. public,but in 20 years i'm sure they'll call it a "masterpiece".
