The Next Generation is underrated, and clearly the wheels of the bandwagon are rolling again here.
McConaughey and Zellwegger are just fine in the lead roles, and though the film is less violent and terrifying than the first (proving the rawness and cheap production values of the original helped to emphasise the horror) this virtual remake (in the Evil Dead/Evil Dead 2 sense) is slick and nasty enough for a second evaluation.
My conclusions for this unneccessary derision: general disdain for the movie's now A-list stars, comparison to the unsurpassable original, negative word-of-mouth.
Viewed as a standalone horror film, this is good stuff - and much less irritating than the postmodern self-referential shit like Scream that it preceded.
Now then -Halloween 3...

The Next Generation isn't a remake of TCM. There are completely different characters and plot (Completely unlike Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2 which is essentially the same exact story retold in the same way with the only differences being a slightly bigger budget and a shift towards cheesy humor.) Zelwegger's acting was shit in it. Matthew McConaughey acted fine, but his character was ridiculously stupid. My gripes with this film extend waaaaay beyond the lack of gore. The whole metal leg thing was stupid, but where this movie really took the plunge was when that retard showed up in the limo out of nowhere and claimed responsibility for all evil in the world. What the fuck? That was just flat out stupid. In my opinion, this piece of crap is right down there near the bottom of the barrel with House of the Dead, Frogs and Infested.
