If what I've heard on the news coverage in my country is accurate, I have to say that under the circumstances...the police were somewhat justified.
All you have to do is look at it from the "what if" perspective, as they must do, especially at the moment.
I don't know WHY the guy ran, I mean, one would assume that the police identified themselves rather clearly...but I wasn't there. He was innocent, and that sucks but what the fuck...he WAS running away, wasn't he? (can anyone actually confirm?)
If I were in the same situation, I'd have definately considered this individuals behaviour a potential HUGE risk. It's seems it's easy to judge when you weren't in their shoes...but after what's been going on over there in the past few weeks, I gotta say that if I saw this guy running towards a more populated area, I'd not wanna be where he was running.
Would you think the same had you been there?
The police had the protection of innocents in mind, and acted accordingly.
If explosives WERE found on the guy, most people criticising the action taken would be singing a different tune. They'd be like, the hero cops...wouldn't they?
They were doing their job.
It's some BULLSHIT that this has happened, but there's certain risks that I think you cannot take while you're employed to help and protect others.
Just my take.
