cave men worked out, in order to increase the size of their tribe or what ever you call it, they needed to reproduce via man and woman. So they would have known how an offspring were produced.
now comon, cave men must have been pretty thick to start with, and even being so primitave, didn't prevent them from learning and continuing evolution.
