Farscape was weird...I mean I don't think it was bad, I'd give it a go a some point if only it was ever shown in any kind of stable continuity on Australian tv...I remember seeing it on at about 3 different times/days over a few months last time they showed it.
Is it the one with some weird big froggy looking fucker? Some of the characters look a little weird, actually, when I first saw it, I thought it looked like some freaked out kids show, but I watched throught maybe 2 episodes in their entirety, and it was pretty good...
I don't like to judge sci-fi until I watch more of it though, I'm sure that a lot of people judged farscape before seeing that much of it themselves.
Speaking of sci-fi, I saw the first half of the Battlestar Galactica miniseries last night, and thought it was fucking bad-ass. I give the original show props for oldskool coolness, but this new one was really well done. I never saw the original how very much, but I DID like the 6-7 episodes I saw as a kid, so I'm not gonna bother comparing them...
When I looked up info on the new miniseries last, I saw nothing but people (evidently fans of the original) ripping into it on account of mainly one thing - They DARED to change one character into a female. Man, so what... Oh yeah, and they left stuff out! You think?!? It's a MINIseries that seems like it's only really based around the beggining of the original show, not the whole damn thing. I mean, I know I MYSELF can accept that.
Seems to me a lot of sci-fi fans get caught up in nitpicking so much that they must miss out on actually ENJOYING any of it.
I mean, I'm not here saying the new BSG is the best ever sci-fi, there's plenty better out there, both old and new, in tv shows, movies and most of all BOOKS.
However, I think that thus far, it's very well done, great music, very nice ships, excellent sound and the special effects are brilliant. The acting is overall pretty decent too.
I enjoyed it, and I'll be checking the rest out tonight.
I know you haven't seen it vod, but I think if you check it out you might like it - just don't watch expecting the original, it's almost completely reimagined, and VERY different.
Oh yeah. My vote...
Being as it is that I really liked the x-files until they turned a simple mystery/sci-fi show into a sci-fi govt conspiracy show, the smoking man signifies the death of the time of the show that I enjoyed the most.
I gotta give this one to the geriatric bondage gimp guy.

PS - I agree on the stargate movie being better, Return. I think the series was kinda interesting and all, but I never liked it as much as I did the movie. I've not yet seen the new atlantis one, is that any good?
