Omen evryone knows they are not the same movie. But no doubt both are good movies. I prefer the one that was made with James Arnes. The thing I have noticed is that younger fans like Carpenters version a bit more while older fans will prefer the original. I can tell you this I enjoyed watching the Thing alot more when it was B&W than when Ted Turner colorized it.
Classic I dont think you really know the diffrence between a remake and an adption and a sequel here are the diffrences. A remake is movie that is based on a movie that was made by someone else using the same characters same story etc. An adption is a movie about a character lets say for example a Werewolf. Ok say the 1st Werewolf movie which was made in 1913 and then lets say someone else wants to make a movie about a Werewolf. That person will make their own story/movie about a Werewolf a diffrent movie diffrent people & characters. Thats an adption. A sequel of course is a follow up movie to an original like the Hammer Dracula movies with Christopher Lee.
