I finished the mangas and the series. Both were needlessly depressing.
As for Hellsing...I believe I qualify as the biggest fan (At least here)...I own the entire series (anime and manga), two doshinji's, an Alucard model, wallscroll, and the saddest thing of all...my pet Chiuahua is named Alexander Anderson (though I only call him Anderson)...
