Everything is balanced in the making of a horror film.
If the directing sucks, the movie won't be all that great.
If the acting is bad, the movie will be cheesy.
If the script is full of plot-holes, the movie won't make sense.
If the music is corny, the film won't have a creepy atmosphere.
If the lighting is off, the film will either be too bright or too dark and will change throughout the film, making it rather laughable.
If the editing isn't done properly, some scenes will seem misplaced.
If the special effects can't be done properly with the budget they have, then they shouldn't use that particular scene.
Everyone holds an important part in a horror film. If I had to pick just one thing as the most important, I'd go with the script.
