Have you ever wondered whether or not the fact that she is woman has a strong impact on it as well. Plus as far as we know, this is her first big case and so she was probably trying to deal with that. Because in HANNIBAL, Clarice is much stronger and isn't afraid to attack Hannibal when need be. Will we already now has had an encounter with Lector at the beginning of Red Dragon. So in truth I forgot where I was going with this, but it is just an interesting thought.
